Overview:
The Director provides leadership for the day to day operations in the Office of Academic Services & Institutional Support (OASIS) within the Division of Student Affairs. She or he works collaboratively with academic departments to develop strategies to enhance all students' learning, with an emphasis on working with students with academic challenges. This position supervises a Coordinator, Assistant Director, Learning Support Specialists, Sr. Learning Support Specialists, students serving as tutors, and work study student(s). This position also oversees the providing of accommodations to students with disabilities.
The individual in this position works with academic faculty and administrators to identify students who are experiencing difficulty with their coursework, examination preparation, and/or study skills. This position serves as a resource for faculty, staff, and students to determine the best approach to provide academic support for students who are struggling. She or he markets available services and documents the use of and assesses the effectiveness of services offered to students. The individual in this position also frequently provides support for students who are struggling with personal issues that interfere with their academic performance.

Accountabilities:
1. Supervise Disability Services and Accommodations Provided to Students
1.1. Oversee staff who receive requests for accommodations
1.2. Work with staff to recommend appropriate accommodations based on documentation and regulations
1.3. Work with faculty to implement required accommodations
2.1. Design opportunities for students to enhance their academic performance through workshops on topics such as study skills, test preparation, stress management, learning styles, and teaching styles
2.2. Create classroom-based presentations on academic performance
2.3. Counsel students to enhance their ability to succeed in their academic program.
2.4. Work with the Director of Student Involvement to provide opportunities for students to learn outside the classroom through involvement in such things as Disability Awareness Week.
2.5. Knowledgeable and up to date on student trends as it relates to academic interventions designed to improve performance.
2.6. Provide Instruction to students, in group and individual settings, related to test-taking skills and study plans for licensing exams
3.1. Prepare and/or coordinate faculty development workshops to enhance effectiveness of teaching, examination preparation, etc. and/or working with students with disabilities
3.2. Attend meetings of and respond to requests from Student Promotion Committees for the various academic programs
3.3. Consult with individual faculty who want advice on working with students who experience academic difficulties.
3.4. Provide advice on compliance issues
3.5 Serve as Faculty for Clinical Education 905 courses
4.1. Enhancing awareness of services among students, faculty, and staff
4.2. Enhancing partnerships with and referrals to community resources
5. Supervise OASIS Office processes, policies, and personnel
5.1. Ensure Student Affairs Division remains compliant with applicable federal and state regulations
5.2. Supervise and lead OASIS staff members
5.3. Lead and coordinate learning assessment for the Division of Student Affairs
5.4. Provide oversight to staff implementing tutoring program
5.5 Oversee online training programs for students
