Job Description

To set direction and provide strategic oversight of Catering & Events to achieve consistently high levels of service, provide creative and innovative products; build strong relationships with guests and employees; and achieve financial success. To oversee and direct the Catering & Events sales team to exceed guests' expectations and maximize short- and long-term profitability. To guide and inspire exceptional team performance and mentor managers, supervisors, and team members in Catering, Events, and Conference Services.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Building team capability, knowledge, and resources to meet short- and long-term business objectives.
  2. Mentoring, training, coaching team members, overseeing new hires, and tracking team training progress.
  3. Managing sales targets, workload, and resource distribution within and across teams.
  4. Directing catering sales and event services efforts to maximize revenue, with a working knowledge of food & beverage compositions and an understanding of kitchen and banquet service procedures.
  5. Interviewing, hiring, and succession planning of staff.
  6. Monitoring and evaluating team performance.
  7. Ensuring service standards are consistently met and exceeded.
  8. Supporting strategic planning and long-term development of sales, financial, and service goals for Catering/Conference Services.
  9. Enhancing services and standards for Catering/Conference Services.
  10. Being accountable for day-to-day P&L in Catering/Conference Services.
  11. Understanding month-end reports, interpreting market conditions, trends, and the property's competition.
  12. Attracting and retaining loyal guests through close working relations.
  13. Anticipating future guest trends and aligning services offered in Catering/Conference Services.
  14. Acting as a key spokesperson for Catering/Conference Services to achieve hotel vision and build a positive brand image with internal and external guests.
  15. Developing innovative solutions to enhance communication of guest and service information.
  16. Troubleshooting complex revenue maximization situations.
  17. Overseeing the facilitation of the guest experience to create a seamless journey that exceeds expectations of a luxury hotel.
  18. Planning and preparing with the team for events and coordinating unique requirements to meet guest needs, pace, and degree of personalization.
  19. Identifying, customizing, and delivering individual guest requirements.
  20. Ensuring effective hosting of the guest experience—greeting guests upon arrival and departure; engaging with guests to ensure satisfaction; sincere follow-up after events.
  21. Building and nurturing strong relationships with guests and employees.
  22. Promoting relationship building through sincere communication and a genuine desire to serve.
  23. Conducting or attending required company standard meetings, including stand-up meetings, business review meetings, daily/weekly Banquet Event Order meetings, pre/post-convention meetings, weekly one-on-one meetings with sales managers, and staff meetings.

Job Requirements:

  1. High school diploma and a college degree in hotel or business administration are required.
  2. Extensive experience in upscale, luxury hotels.
  3. Extensive experience in a similar operational area.
  4. Strong leadership experience.
  5. Specific strategic and operational knowledge necessary to perform the job.
  6. Proficiency in Opera.
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Knowledge of food service techniques and cost controls, including labor, productivity, food cost, and other expenses.
  9. Budgetary analysis capabilities.
  10. Ability to supervise subordinate staff, including assigning duties, establishing sales targets, evaluating service, and disciplinary actions.
