Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and caring Cook to join our preschool/daycare team. The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks that meet USDA guidelines, adhering to food safety standards, and accommodating children's dietary needs and allergies. The ideal candidate will take pride in creating a safe and healthy mealtime experience for children in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks for children, following a pre-approved menu and nutrition guidelines
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and all food preparation areas in compliance with health department regulations
Ensure food is prepared in accordance with children's allergies and dietary restrictions
Order and maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies
Maintain proper food storage and labeling procedures
Monitor food temperatures and log all required records for compliance
Assist in meal service, including serving food and helping classrooms during mealtimes as needed
Follow all licensing, health, and safety regulations related to food preparation and service
Support staff with occasional classroom or center tasks when kitchen duties are complete
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience in food preparation, preferably in a childcare, school, or institutional setting
Knowledge of USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines (preferred)
Valid food handler's card or ability to obtain one before employment
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
Must pass background check and meet state licensing requirements
