Position Title Recreation Aide Department Campus Life Department Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Student Life the Game Room Aide is a leader within the game room program who must show a high level of commitment for its success. Rec Aides will supervise the game room attendants and be responsible for implementing the various programs.
Though all game room staff members are still allowed to participate in game room activities, employment may require the individual to make working a priority over participating in the program. In addition to the Game Room responsibilities Rec Aides will also be responsible for seasonal intramural sport officiating and programming, and student events and activities. Intramural Sports Officials are responsible for providing an atmosphere of fun in a competitive, yet safe, environment. Officials must be able to implement Intramural Sports policies and playing rules in order to maintain an appropriate level of control, fairness, and safety. Responsibilities at student events will vary from checking in students to enforcing rules and regulations for a fun and safe setting. Hours vary but may include day shifts, nights and/or weekends.

Specific Duties
* Be on time and ready to work when scheduled and responsible.
* Assist In recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating game room attendants
* Maintain an updated inventory of video games, systems, equipment, and supplies
* Monitor the game room while on duty
* Check out games, controllers, and other equipment to participants
* Keep the game room neat and organized
* Notify supervisor of any equipment or repair needs
* Submit timely marketing requests for upcoming programs
* Respond to emergency situations according to level of first responder training
* Attend regular Campus Recreation leadership staff meetings
* Conduct regular Game Room staff meetings
* Keep an accurate record of hours worked and submit time-sheet when due
* Officiate Intramural contests.
* Assist with pre and post game logistics and administrative functions.
* Assist with preparation and inspection of the game site.
* Understand emergency/evacuation procedures.
* Provide positive public relations, program promotion, and policy education to participants.
* Verify participant eligibility
* Attend all officials training clinics
* Provide a friendly, upbeat and customer service oriented environment at all times.
* Attend Arts@HU events
* Advertise for student events
* Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
* College student at NMHU and classified as a sophomore, junior, or senior and enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credit hours
* Successfully completed one semester at NMHU;
Preferred Qualification:
* Minimum 3.0 GPA
Experience:
* Work experience in college
Preferred Qualifications
* Must be a currently enrolled student in good standing
* Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification or willingness to become certified
* Knowledge of video games and systems including their connectivity and capability
* Exceptional communication and proven leadership skills
* Prior experience as a game room attendant preferred
* Previous officiating experience.
* Previous customer service experience.
* Knowledge of game and rules and Intramural policies.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Exemplary officiating experience in two or more Intramural Sports
Seasons.
