Funeral Attendant- Assistant

This position provides professional services addressing the needs and comforts of the family during chapel and church services, visitations, and graveside services, as well as providing additional services as identified by the arranger that provided arrangement assistance to the family. All service directors are expected to provide total quality care of the highest respect for the deceased and to treat each family served as if it was their own.

Minimum/Preferred Requirements:

  • Minimum, 25 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Experience highly recommended)

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Perform a variety of tasks during funerals to assist funeral directors and to ensure that services run smoothly and as planned.
  • Be familiar with the name of the deceased and the principle family members.
  • Review and be familiar with the events listed on the service sheet/service schedule.
  • Prior to a service or visitation, assist Primary Service Director with the setting up of the service as directed, including but not limited to, preparing the parking lot, setting the heat/air conditioning, checking the condition and appearance of the deceased, arranging the floral pieces, placing the service items (photos, etc.), ensuring the cleanliness of chapel, appropriately placing any religious items, ensuring adequate boxes of Kleenex are available.
