Access Control Security Officer

As an Access Control Security Officer, you will be responsible for the programming and troubleshooting of the access control system. This includes electronic key card systems, contact alarms, duress alarms and other security technologies. The position complements the existing security programs at the Palms Casino Resort and Palms Place and will be part of the overall goal of ensuring the highest levels of safety and security of all guests and team members. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures. This position requires specialized training and physical conditioning.

Core Job Responsibilities:

• Configure access control systems based on department and property needs.
• Conduct routine checks and inspections of access control equipment.
• Implement system upgrades and updates.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with access control systems.
• Collaborate with Palms and Palms Place departments to understand their security needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in access control technology.
• Ensures establishment and its surrounding premises are always protected by providing public safety to customers, team members, facilities, and operations.
• Render appropriate first aid to injured persons and following established protocol for reporting injuries.
• Perform other job duties as requested.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Knowledge of access control systems and security technologies.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant certifications in access control or security systems (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail, good documentation skills, ability to write clear, concise project reports.
• Ability to function with minimal instruction or supervision, or as a part of larger team reporting to formal project management.
• Proven troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Microsoft operating systems and Office applications
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings.
• Must be able to obtain appropriate licensing, work permits, and other work authorization cards based on the job they perform.
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

• Primary work environment is in climate-controlled office, gaming facility areas and outdoors.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Must have the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
• Must have acceptable hearing levels to properly monitor radio transmissions.
• Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone.
• Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, and over the telephone.
• Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned, or to make general observations of facilities, guests, and employees.
• Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office, gaming facility and outdoor environment.
• Physically able to withstand the challenges of extensive walking, climbing, and descending numerous interior and external stairs, including multi-level building facilities.
• Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
