The City of Las Vegas is currently accepting applications for the position of Instructor 4. This is an Hourly position. The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list for future openings.
Cultural Affairs seeks part-time instructors with arts, music, dance and theatre expertise including, but not limited to: performance, audition management, Film (including recording, auditioning and performing for the camera), set design and construction, production and stage management, light and sound engineering, tech direction, voice instruction (solo and choral), Music direction, dance and choreography (all types), costume and prop design, etc.
Ideal candidates will contribute to the catalog of cultural classes offered by the City of Las Vegas but will also assist with productions through the Rainbow Youth Theatre Company at the Charleston Heights Arts Center. May include assignments in, but not limited to: Cultural Centers, City-owned event spaces and parks, or seasonal camps.
Supervision Received: Receives general supervision from higher level supervisory or management staff.
Duties may vary based on the assigned department. Provides advanced instruction to participants registered in classes; greets participants; provides facility tours; explains facility programs to participants; sets up/takes down equipment for program and/or special event; prepares curriculum guidelines for proposed classes; prints Activity Role Sheet; conducts role call. In addition to teaching instruction, depending on area of expertise, ideal candidate may be required to contribute to production duties for stage shows managed by the Rainbow Youth Theatre Company (for students aged 10 18).
Experience: Minimum 21 years of age. Formal and informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. Has a good working understanding of advanced instruction techniques to lead participants on various cultural, performance, music and fine arts classes. Experience in working with people with disabilities and the associated behaviors is desirable. Experience teaching minors under age 18 is desirable. Bilingual skills are desirable.
License or Certificate: Have valid certification(s) for instruction of specialized classes.
