OverviewCDM Smith's Construction Engineering & Inspection team is seeking a Senior Roadway and Bridge Construction Inspector for a dynamic, travel‑intensive role. The position requires 100% travel across national project sites east of the Mississippi River, offering a unique opportunity to work on high‑impact infrastructure projects in diverse outdoor environments.ResponsibilitiesPerform complex and routine inspections to verify that construction materials, methods, and processes comply with plans, specifications, and special provisions.Use high‑grade equipment and conduct complex calculations as part of construction inspections.Review drawings and other documents to prepare for inspections.Understand the design of the construction to be inspected and evaluate construction tolerance.Document and communicate inspection findings and recommendations to supervisors and relevant stakeholders.QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent; or equivalent directly related experience that may substitute for the degree.Minimum of 8 years of related experience in construction inspection; certifications from a State Highway Agency or national entity (e.g., ACI, NICET) in earthwork, asphalt, or concrete are preferred.Valid driver's license; 100% travel required.Strong knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction and the ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, and specifications.Intermediate proficiency in geometry, trigonometry, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to lead, instruct, and mentor junior inspectors.High adaptability to new technologies and quick learning of new computer, smartphone, or related applications.EEO StatementCDM Smith is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
