Overview The School of Education Adjunct Faculty – Dissertation Advisor, under the supervision of the School Director is responsible for guiding students through their dissertation journey. Dissertation Advisors (Chairs) are to be experienced in the end to end dissertation development process. Dissertation Advisors need to be knowledgeable in all aspects of dissertation milestones for a five-chapter manuscript, including scholarly development of the Prospectus, Proposal, and final Manuscript. This is a non-exempt position paid through course instruction.Responsibilities Provide dissertation student instruction in assigned dissertation capstone courses.Guide dissertation students through each dissertation milestone deliverable ensuring compliance to template and rubric criteria.Be available to meet with students through phone, Zoom, or other sources to assist them in scholarly completion of dissertation milestone documents.Participate in virtual review sessions with students during summer intensive sessions.Review and provide formative and summative feedback to students weekly on dissertation milestone deliverables.Prepare and support students for proposal and manuscript oral defenses.Counsel and advise dissertation students through committee member feedback to meet University dissertation requirements.Participate in faculty directed activities integral to the university system.Meet with Director of School of Education on student milestone completion progress and report issues, concerns, and successes ensuring student dissertation work complies with University standards.Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum that conforms with the Program's mission, goals, and objectives.Education EdD or PhD from a US accredited college or universityCurrent CITI certification (or complete through Touro University Nevada's IRB within the first 30 days of hiring)Experience Three years of dissertation chair experience (online preferred)Five years of dissertation committee experience (online preferred)Teaching experience at the University level – preferred online course instructionMulti-disciplinary experience in student dissertation developmentKnowledgeable in all aspects of five-chapter dissertation developmentStrong methodological background (qualitative and quantitative design and approach)Ability to work collaboratively as a team with other Program and University faculty and colleaguesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to address diverse audiencesHighly organized, self-starterAbility to maintain strict confidentialityApplication Requirements Curriculum VitaeCover Letter that expresses your interest in this specific position at this specific institution – be specific in your dissertation advising experiences.Complete a review of provided sample paper (providing formative and summative feedback)Skills & Abilities Strong oral and written communication skills, including grammar and formal speechEstablished leadership and supervisory skillsComputer skills, including Microsoft OfficeStrong APA 7th knowledgeFlexible, resilient, and uplifting demeanorExcellent organizational skillsAttention to detail and situational awarenessAble to exercise sound judgmentAble to serve and advocate for diverse populations#J-18808-Ljbffr
