Take a peek into what makes us different here: Summary:Henderson Building Solutions is seeking a Commissioning Technician (Start-Up Refrigeration) to support field startup, testing, and troubleshooting of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. This role can be based out of any of our national offices.The Commissioning Technician plays a critical role in executing commissioning and start-up activities for ammonia (NH3), CO2 transcritical, and hybrid refrigeration systems. This includes performing pre-functional checks, system start-up, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure systems operate in accordance with design intent, manufacturer requirements, IIAR and ASHRAE standards, and applicable codes.Key Responsibilities:Creates owner project requirements, construction plans and specificationsReviews drawings and maintains a record of commentsGenerate checklists and tests for equipmentMake site visits to complete pre-functional test checklistsGenerates site observation and issues reportsReviews equipment submittals and maintains a record of commentsPerforms testing, adjusting and balancing tasks, which includes adjusting air and hydronic systemsMakes site visits to complete functional performance testsGenerates site observation and issues reportsGenerates final reportsMakes site visits to troubleshoot issuesAssesses equipment operation and conditionsGenerates reports summarizing visits, equipment conditions and recommendationsDevelops and maintains client relationshipsSetups projects and foldersEvaluates budgets to determine the proper allocation of resources and time for each jobQualifications:Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering required, or 4+ years of experience without a relevant degree. Common examples include Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, or Architectural Engineering.High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.Commissioning certification preferred (NEBB TAB Tech or Cx Tech)Previous commissioning or testing/balancing experience preferredExperience commissioning ammonia (NH3) and/or CO2 refrigeration systems preferredAbility to reliably and predictably carry out the functions of this jobStrong verbal and written communication skillsAble to work with some degree of independence but may require frequent supervision and mentoringAbility to understand drawings and specifications and how they translate into a buildingUnderstanding of mechanical and electrical systems for commercial, institutional and light industrial facilities as they relate to commissioningBasic knowledge of Automation and controls systems, HVAC systems, plumbing, fire alarm/life safety systems, lighting and lighting controls, and test and balanceHave an understanding of ASHRAE, ACG and LEED commissioning requirementsKnowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit and BluebeamAbility to read and understand blueprintsValid driver's licensePhysical & Work Environment Requirements:Significant travel required - approximately 50% of timeMust be flexible and able to travel with little noticeAbility to work varying shift times depending on the project, i.e. night or weekendsAbility to be on your feet all day and climb laddersLet's Talk PerksWe take care of our people.
