Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Background Investigator (Part-Time) in the Department of Police. The consideration for list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year. Under general supervision, performs a variety of clerical, administrative, and investigative duties in support of the background review processes for the Henderson Police Department; and performs related duties as assigned.

VACANCY INFORMATION:

  • This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position.
  • This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation
  • This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS)
  • Work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need
  • May be required to work a flexible work schedule, outside of normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours
  • External candidates, probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Three (3) years of full-time equivalent experience conducting and processing background screenings and/or investigations
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
  • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
  • Must obtain and maintain Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification upon hire/transfer and recertify as needed. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
  • Desirable: Experience conducting background investigations for business licensing
