Accountant Technician I - Accounts PayableThis position is within the Controller's Office, located on the North Las Vegas Campus. Under general supervision of the Accounts Payable Manager, the role performs technical accounting duties within the Accounts Payable Office, oversees Travel Accounting, and ensures compliance with travel policies and procedures set by the College of Southern Nevada. The candidate must be reliable, accurate, and able to work collaboratively in a deadline‑driven environment. The position requires consistent attendance and will directly engage with college employees.ResponsibilitiesProcess Workday tasks related to travel and accounts payable, including Motor Pool billings, Supplier Invoice Requests, Miscellaneous Requests, Spend Authorizations, Cash Advances, and Expense Reports in a timely and accurate manner.Provide guidance and support to employees regarding travel spend authorizations, expense reports, travel policies, and troubleshooting issues.Reconcile ledger accounts related to travel, identify and resolve discrepancies.Present travel training to CSN employees.Review outstanding Spend Authorizations and Expense Reports monthly and follow up with employees.Perform general accounts payable duties such as creating settlement runs and printing checks.Assist with the review of hosting expenses to ensure compliance and proper documentation.Participate in department and campus‑wide training and development.Perform office duties such as answering phone calls, processing mail, and data input to ensure normal business flow in the Controller's Office, and undertake special tasks as assigned.Read, understand, and apply complex regulations and accounting guidelines and procedures; meet deadlines, prioritize and organize work, and compose business correspondence and reports.Perform physical tasks such as sitting at a computer, typing, using a mouse, operating a 10‑key machine, and lifting up to 25 lbs.Periodically travel between campus locations and training/meeting facilities; reimbursement per CSN's Travel Policy.May be eligible for a flexible work schedule.General knowledge of accounting theory, bookkeeping practices, automated accounting systems, and spreadsheet software.Minimum QualificationsHigh school graduation and two years of financial records‑maintenance experience, including controlling accounts payable/receivable, preparing financial reports for internal management, and reconciling complex accounts; ORTwo years as an Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service; OROne year as an Accounting Assistant IV in Nevada State service; ORAn equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.Schedule & Work HoursMonday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The employee may be required to work overtime and on weekends to meet deadlines. For year‑end audit, requests for more than 3 consecutive days of leave may not be approved during June and July unless compelling circumstances exist.Compensation & BenefitsStarting Salary: CBA C – Grade 30, Step 1 – $52,722.00. This position is contingent upon ongoing funding.
