Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Family Law/Litigation Paralegal to support our legal team.  Our legal practice consists of complex divorce/custody disputes for high net worth clients.  We offer a comprehensive benefits package, with a salary range of $60,000 to $80,000 per year depending on education, training, and experience. 

You will work closely with our attorneys from the beginning of a case through the end, including attendance at trials.  Candidates must have extensive experience with document review, trial preparation, handling discovery, drafting legal documents, and managing case paperwork. You must be able to multi-task several assignments under tight deadlines.  Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook and be experienced with Odyssey eFile utilized by the District Court, Eighth Judicial District, to file and serve documents with and through the Court.

Paralegal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Gather and organize information/documents to prepare both General and Detailed Financial Disclosure Forms and produce mandatory initial disclosures
  • Prepare a marital balance sheet and monthly expense chart for complex cases
  • Develop and follow a case flow management system to monitor deadlines, response dates, court filings, and scheduling orders 
  • Assist attorneys in the preparation of Complaints, Answers/Counterclaims, Orders, Motions, and other case filings in domestic law matters
  • Knowledge of discovery rules and procedures (including the drafting of subpoenas; arranging service of subpoenas; preparation of discovery requests, objections, and responses; bates-stamping and organizing documents for production; scheduling depositions; arranging for court reporter; and calendaring deadlines)
  • Create reports, legal memorandums and case summaries for attorneys based on case specifications and requests
  • Knowledge of Courtroom decorum and procedures

Paralegal Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in family law or civil litigation
  • Current Notary Public preferred
  • National certification, such as those offered by NALA or AACP, is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, MyCase (or similar legal case management system), and legal research databases such as Westlaw or Lexis
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
